After several years of leadership positions in bedside nursing, I returned to the University of Minnesota to earn a Masters Degree in Nursing Administration. Improving the care of hospitalized patients as a hospital and nursing administrator was my focus for over 20 years. Now, as a Legal Nurse Consultant, I am able to focus once again on individual clients / patients and assist the attorneys in being their advocate. I enjoy the personal contact I have with our clients. I have a special interest in cases involving medical and surgical care, both areas where I worked at the bedside.
Many of the cases I work on involve failure to diagnose serious infection after surgery and other significant post-operative events. Complications and mistakes surrounding gastric by-pass for weight loss are of particular interest to me. I believe that nurses fill a unique role in the legal system providing our clients with individual support and special knowledge. Nurses are a powerful asset to the legal team.
