Selected Results*
Member of the trial team representing Eolas Technologies, Inc. and the Regents of the University of California, in action for patent infringement concerning web browser technology against Microsoft Corporation. The case settled in 2007 four days before the start of the invalidity trial.
Represented General Electric Co., in litigation resulting in settlement involving patents using magnetic resonance imaging.
Represented individual inventor Paul Cozza in litigation involving antivirus technology against McAfee, Inc. resulting in settlement.
Represented ExxonMobil Chemical Company on patents involving unique polymers in assisting the Company in reaching resolution with a licensee.
Represented Union Oil Company of California during investigation and at trial in defense of antitrust claims brought by the Federal Trade Commission on patents involving reformulated gasoline technology.
Represented Unocal Corporation in defense of patent infringement and judicial interference action by Talbert Fuel Systems Patents Company. Summary judgment in favor of Unocal, affirmed by the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals, centiorari granted, vacated, remanded by the U.S. Supreme Court. On October 28, 2003 the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit unanimously ruled in favor of Unocal on all issues.
Represented Unocal Corporation against ARCO, Chevron, Exxon, Mobil, Shell and Texaco in action for patent infringement on reformulated gasoline technology.
Represented Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota before Minnesota Commerce Commission to obtain approval of BCBSM’s use of proceeds from tobacco settlement.
Represented Best Buy Company in defense of action regarding use of name “Best Buy.”
