Firm Donates $100,000 to Tsunami Relief Organization

(March 2005) -- The law firm of Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi L.L.P. announced that it is donating $100,000 to assist with the tsunami relief effort in Asia. The gift will be divided between several international organizations assisting with relief efforts: $50,000 to Give2Asia, $25,000 to CARE USA and $25,000 to the American Refugee Committee.
The contribution is made possible, in large part, from moneys raised by donations. Members and friends of the firm raised $41,662. The balance of the donation, which amounted to $58,338, was provided by the form's private foundation.
"In the face of an unspeakable tragedy, it is our obligation to bond together and provide whatever relief we can to those in need," said Steven A. Schumeister, the firm's managing partner. "We hope that these efforts, and the efforts of the organizations that we are working with, will help to ease some of the ongoing difficulties faced by so many in those areas that have been devastated by the tsunami."
