Golf Tournament Raises Over $113,000 for Military Families

November 2008 - USA Cares, a nationwide assistance organization serving military service members and their families, held its second annual charitable golf tournament on November 10, 2008 at the MountainGate Country Club in Los Angeles. Over $113,000 was raised. Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi L.L.P., a national law firm, along with Hagen, Streiff, Newton & Oshiro, RGL and Matson, Driscoll & Damico, sponsored the tournament. Comedian and commentator Dennis Miller played in the tournament and emceed the dinner.
Patrick Shipstead, partner at Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi L.L.P. and the father of an Air Force pilot, states, "We are very pleased with the response to the tournament. Supporting America's sons and daughters who are serving in Iraq and Afghanistan and elsewhere is very important. They, and their families, bear a large burden and USA Cares is a great organization to help them." Shipstead, who is a member of USA Cares' Board of Directors also commented that based upon past results, the money raised will aid hundreds of additional military families.
