Marta Chou Appointed Chair of MSBA Diversity Committee and to MSBA Task Force on Diversity in the Profession
Nov 2005
Robins, Kaplan, Miller, and Ciresi L.L.P. attorney Marta Chou has been appointed Chair of the Diversity Committee of the Minnesota State Bar Association ("MSBA"). Prior to her appointment in October 2005, she was a Co-Chair of the same committee. Ms. Chou will chair the Diversity Committee for one year and will lead the MSBA in promoting diversity in the legal profession. To that end, Ms. Chou is leading the MSBA in the creation and administration of the new Minnesota Minority Clerkship Program. In addition, Ms. Chou is organizing a two-part series focused on studying, discussing and combating the decline of racially diverse law students applying to law school and the ramifications this holding has for the legal community.
In September 2005, Ms. Chou was also appointed to the MSBA Task Force on Diversity in the Profession. The mission of the Task Force is to examine the Hennepin County Bar Association (HCBA) Glass Ceiling Task Force and Self-Audit for Gender Equity (SAGE) reports and provide updates on both qualitative and quantitative data on diversity in the legal profession. A report of the Task Force findings will be available in late June 2006.
