Atlanta (September 2006) – Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi L.L.P. is pleased to announce that Mary Nicole Pilson, 22, has been named the first Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi L.L.P. Scholar at the University of Georgia School of Law. A first-year student from Houston, Texas, Pilson graduated from Baylor University. Her undergraduate studies included Political Science and Business Administration.
The Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi L.L.P. Scholarship Fund gives the University of Georgia School of Law $80,000 over the next 10 years. The firm's Foundation for Education, Public Health and Social Justice committed to fund this scholarship at an amount of $8,000 per year, approximately the cost of one student’s annual tuition. The scholarship supports the University of Georgia School of Law's mission of furthering educational diversity, and is awarded to those students who have overcome significant disadvantages or hardships, or who belong to groups historically underrepresented in law schools and the legal profession.
"Mary’s strong leadership skills and outstanding academic credentials were a particular highlight of her application to Georgia Law. At Baylor, she had reactivated the NAACP chapter on the campus," said Lisa Heller, managing partner of the firm's Atlanta office. "We are so proud that she is our first scholarship recipient, as she embodies exactly what we had envisioned for this opportunity."
"Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi L.L.P. has made a thoughtful and strategic investment in Georgia Law. This law school's proven track record of successfully recruiting a diverse student body makes it a sound place for an investment of this type. We are grateful to Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi L.L.P. for demonstrating their leadership with this long term commitment to students and, in turn, the legal profession," said Rebecca White, dean of University of Georgia School of Law.
