    • First party coverage disputes -- primarily involving commercial or industrial property policies;
    • Bad faith cases involving various kinds of coverage;
    • Construction disputes
    • Building composition disputes: asbestos, lead paint, weld quality, curtain wall defects, foundational or site preparation, etc.;
    • Fire and explosion;
    • Flood and land damage;
    • Commercial torts -- Antitrust, RICO, fraud and misrepresentation, contract disputes (U.C.C. and otherwise), warranty claims;
    • Environmental - underground tanks, contamination leaks and spills, water pollution, indoor contamination;
    • Machinery defect cases involving boilers, pressure vessels, turbo generators, co-generation equipment, various production machinery;
    • Various personal injury disputes.
  • CLE lectures to Orange County Bar Association members on various insurance and litigation issues.
  • Seminars for the Property Loss Research Bureau.
  • Seminars for various businesses in the insurance, accounting and engineering industries, as well as the Tort and Insurance Practice Section of the American Bar Association and various California legal education groups.

Selected Results*

Irvine Company v. Chubb Group: $75 million asbestos removal claim (plus claims for bad faith and punitive damages) by the Irvine Company against Chubb Group Company, Federal Insurance Company. Obtained summary judgment on behalf of Chubb/Federal in Federal Court (Central District California).

Irvine Co. V. Chubb Group: $25 million structural defect claim (plus claims for bad faith and punitive damages) by the Irvine Company against Chubb Group Company, Federal Insurance Company. Obtained directed verdict for Chubb/Federal after extended presentation of Irvine case in Federal Court (Central District California).

$25 million structural defect claim (plus claims for bad faith and punitive damages) by the Irvine Company against Chubb Group Company, Federal Insurance Company. Obtained directed verdict for Chubb/Federal after extended presentation of Irvine case in Federal Court (Central District California).

Asarco v. Allendale Insurance Company: $75 million claim dispute relating to flooding of an open pit copper mine in Arizona. Case tried to a jury verdict in favor of Allendale in Federal Court (District of Arizona).
