Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi's Awareness Campaign Checks in at the Airport

May 7, 2008

Airport AdMINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (May 2008) - The Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi Foundation for Children and the law firm of Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi L.L.P. have created a new, large, three-dimensional overhead display at the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport to grab the attention of visitors and to increase the visibility of the Foundation.  Previously, the foundation and the firm had a large, three-dimensional display located on Concourse C from 2003 - 2008.

The Foundation was established in 1998 when the law firm of Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi L.L.P. donated a gift of up to $30 million to The Minneapolis Foundation. The mission was to create a permanent endowment, income from which would be distributed primarily in Minnesota and the Twin Cities.  The Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi Foundation for Children has a proven emphasis on providing support to children for education, advocacy, protection from abuse, and other areas.

Since its founding, the Foundation has distributed over $9 million in grants in Minnesota, more than $6 million of which were focused on education, health, and social justice issues that directly impact children. Other grants have provided broader support to children and families, i.e., to provide access to housing, or to support improvements in overall health or healthcare delivery.

Prominently rising above the G Concourse, the huge 111"(H) x 270"(W) display reads, "Serving our clients. Serving our communities."   The 3-D art, designed by Kerker of Minneapolis, uses sculpted Styrofoam to illustrate Lady Justice and a Child Swinging through the air.  The display creatively ties together the themes of justice and community giving.

"Approximately thirty-three thousand visitors each day are greeted on the G Concourse," states Michael V. Ciresi, board president and chairman of the Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi Foundation for Children and name partner of Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi L.L.P.  "We want to make a bold impression that identifies the foundation, the firm and the need to give back to our community."

"Whether travelers at the airport are from Minnesota or from around the world, we want them to be aware not only of our legal capabilities but also our commitment to addressing important needs in our communities," said Ciresi.  "We want to make a significant and long-lasting difference in people's lives."
