Roman Silberfeld and Michael Plonsker Named to Hollywood Power Lawyer List

Los Angeles (July 2011) - Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi L.L.P. is pleased to announce that Roman M. Silberfeld and Michael J. Plonsker have been named to The Hollywood Reporter's annual "Power Lawyers 2011" list. Mr. Silberfeld, managing partner of the firm's Los Angeles office, and Mr. Plonsker, Co-Chair of the firm's Entertainment and Media Litigation practice, are featured in the Litigation Specialists category in the 5th Annual Power Lawyers Edition of the publication that published on July 13, 2011. The list profiles 100 of the most influential entertainment attorneys in America.
Mr. Silberfeld was noted for being behind "one of the largest jury verdicts in Hollywood history, a $320 million win on behalf of U.K. production company Celador International against the Walt Disney Co. over profits from Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. As lead trial counsel, last summer he proved that Disney and its subsidiaries used ‘shell game' accounting and ‘sweetheart' deals to cheat Celador (the case is on appeal)."
Mr. Silberfeld serves on the firm's Executive Board. His trial and appellate experience in complex civil litigation including business and high technology matters, product liability, professional negligence and mass tort litigation, with particular emphasis upon multi-state, multi-party, and class action litigation. He represents both plaintiffs and defendants in complex litigation.
Mr. Plonsker was noted in the feature for representing producer Gary Gilbert through lawsuits and countersuits regarding the Kenneth Lonergan film Margaret. The talent-side litigator also is representing the family of the creator of Hawaii Five-0 and Damages producers Todd and Glenn Kessler in a WGA arbitration against Fox.
He focuses his practice on the talent side of the film and television industries, with a concentration on idea submission, profit participation, trademark and copyright infringement, right of publicity, right of privacy, defamation, guild and labor commission, employment, and internet-related disputes. His clients include many high profile actors, writers, directors, producers, musicians, talent agents, business and personal managers, and independent production companies in the film, television, and music industry. Mr. Plonsker has been named a "Power Lawyer" every year since the inception of the award in 2007.
