William Erickson of Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi L.L.P. Appointed President of Newly Formed Massachusetts Reinsurance Bar Association

May 1, 2009

Boston (May 2009) - Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi L.L.P. is pleased to announce that partner William N. Erickson has been appointed president of the new Massachusetts Reinsurance Bar Association (MReBA), which was recently established with more than 25 lawyers from seven law firms in Boston.

"The immediate response from our legal community about this new bar association, which we believe to be the first of its kind specifically for reinsurance, shows us that our formation is timely and relevant.  MReBA is more than an educational bar association.  Our members share ideas and collaborate on innovative techniques to more effectively resolve reinsurance disputes with a cost and a process that makes sense for our clients in today's environment," said Erickson, who helped found the group.  His practice focuses on insurance coverage litigation, in the area of first party property coverage, subrogation and third party liability coverage.

MReBA is founded on the principles of professional collegiality and education.  Monthly meetings include a discussion of developing trends in reinsurance law, recent decisions or legislation, and ongoing developments at insurance and reinsurance companies worldwide.

In addition, MReBA works through its committees to develop educational presentations, publish an electronic newsletter, plan an annual symposium for later this year, and assemble a database of experts and reinsurance arbitrators.

The seven law firms leading the association are Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi L.L.P.; Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky & Popeo, PC; Morrison, Mahoney LLP; Prince, Lobel, Glovsky & Tye, LLP; Ropes & Gray, LLP; Sugarman, Rogers, Barshak & Cohen, P.C.; and Zelle, Hoffmann, Voelbel, Mason & Gette, LLP.
