Firm Receives Pro Bono Award from Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts
On June 14, 2012, Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi L.L.P. was presented with the "S. Jeanne Hall Pro Bono Service Award" from Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts (VLA). The award is presented annually to recognize outstanding contributions by law firms and attorneys to the arts community, VLA clients and VLA's mission.
Partner Hillel Parness, and New York office administrator Deb Maguire were both singled out for particular activities they carried out on behalf of the organization in 2011, and they accepted the award on behalf of the firm. Partner David Leichtman serves as VLA's board chairman, and presided over the awards ceremony during VLA's Summer Benefit, held at the TRESPA Design Centre in SoHo. Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi L.L.P. was one of three law firms to receive awards.
Established in 1969, VLA is the pioneer in arts-related legal aid and education programming. VLA believes that individual artists and arts organizations deserve access to dedicated legal representation, advocacy and educational programs tailored to their needs to ensure they are heard and their interests are protected. The first arts-related legal aid organization, VLA is the model for similar organizations around the world.
